Change and Transition
Coaching through Change and Transition
Empowering People through Change
with Coaching Conversations
Change is hard enough to navigate on your own. Leading people through it, while holding space for their uncertainty, maintaining team momentum, and keeping everyone engaged and moving forward, is one of the most demanding and meaningful things a leader can do. The leaders who do this best are not the ones who have all the answers about what comes next. They are the ones who know how to ask the right questions, create the right conditions, and help each person on their team find their own path through.
This coaching through change and leadership development workshop brings together two of the most important capabilities in a people leader's toolkit: the coaching skills that unlock potential and inspire action, and the change and transition frameworks that help leaders guide their teams through uncertainty with empathy and skill. Participants explore how coaching conversations specifically designed for moments of change can help individuals process transition, reconnect with their sense of direction, and move forward with renewed clarity and confidence. Rather than managing change at people, this workshop equips leaders to coach through it alongside them, building the kind of trust, dialogue, and forward momentum that makes even the most significant transitions navigable.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is coaching through change different from standard leadership coaching?
Standard leadership coaching focuses on developing capabilities, achieving goals, and unlocking potential in relatively stable conditions. Coaching through change adds the specific complexity of transition: the emotional weight of uncertainty, the process of letting go of what was, and the challenge of moving toward something not yet fully defined. This workshop gives leaders the tools to coach effectively in that more demanding and emotionally charged context, where the stakes are highest and the need for genuine human support is greatest.
What does it mean to coach people through change rather than manage them through it?
Managing change typically involves communicating decisions, clarifying expectations, and directing people toward the desired outcome. Coaching through change means creating space for people to process their experience, asking powerful questions that help individuals find their own clarity and motivation, and building the kind of trust that makes people feel genuinely supported rather than simply directed. The result is deeper engagement, stronger buy-in, and more sustainable forward momentum.
How does this workshop connect coaching skills to the three phases of transition?
The workshop explores how the coaching questions, listening approaches, and support strategies a leader uses should shift depending on where someone is in their transition process, whether they are still letting go of what was, navigating the uncertain in-between, or beginning to engage with what comes next. Matching the coaching approach to the phase of transition is one of the most impactful and underutilized skills in change leadership.
Do participants need prior coaching experience to benefit from this workshop?
No prior coaching experience is required. The workshop builds coaching skills from the ground up within the specific context of change leadership, making it accessible and immediately applicable for leaders at any stage of their development and at any level of prior familiarity with coaching as a discipline.
How does Coaching through Change and Transition connect to other workshops?
It pairs naturally with Coaching to Full Potential, which provides the foundational coaching skills and frameworks this workshop builds on, and with Taking Charge of Change, which provides the change and transition model at the center of this session. Together, the three workshops create a comprehensive approach to leading people through change with genuine coaching skill, emotional intelligence, and human care.
